Entrepreneur of the Week : The future belongs to those who belive in the possibilities of their dreams

A wise one said, “The best way to predict the future is to create it”. This is the tale of the Kenyan young folks who either by choice or by circumstance have opted to create a present that defines the future of self-employment and consultancy work. Today, in history there are more and more young CEOs, unlike the previous decades where the entry to entrepreneurship was people in their forty’s or retirees in their fifties, today’s young CEOs are young, dynamic, flexible, and extra creative having an early start. Figuring their lives at a very young age without prior experience has brought out young genius who are both impressive and bold. This allows them, to bring in something new to the table, perhaps never been seen, never been heard. This can be seen from the Tiktok moves that have promoted so many young businesses and enhanced wide reach.

Mr Anthony, a young entrepreneur has never received a salary in his life, he managed to turn his passion for profit in the year 2016 and has never looked back. After doing his fair share of job hunt as many young people, he hopped on to the possibilities of starting his own business. Today, he has been working with very big brands in Kenya and Africa most directly and some indirectly. He has had the chance to work with some of the greatest cinematographers in Kenya that has been a reality beyond his wildest imagination. He is a true tale of the possibilities that come with the first step.

To date he is a serial entrepreneur part of:

a)Sigma international media

b)East wavez Media

c)Kamwangi Environmental watch CBO

d)Sigma electronics and  spares (camera&drone spares and weighing scale accessories ) that’s is under the pipeline

He recalls how he started his business with zero capital. He narrates a very interesting story of how he called a Speaker after attending a Seminar organized by the (IMCS) international movement of catholic students on a project on E-waste (GO-Green).  During a session on entrepreneurship and project budgeting the trainer Mr Samuel Kanja said, to start a business you only need a plan and not money.

True to this, he started his business with a borrowed camera(s) and as they say the rest is history. He later took part of his savings and got a little boost from a cousin Patrick, a friend Jeremy and Mum, and this has been a story of building a house one brick after another.

Building a career and a dream has not come without some challenges though, he recalls a true character development when someone coned him money meant to buy cameras. Another in his initial days (4) four clients canceled events consecutively within a month, even after having planned everything. This is what has brought about his great resilience of staying focused even after hurdles. Six years strong down the road, never salaried and still standing.

Mr. Anthony Mbindyo aka Uncle Tonny, who sees himself as a disciplined, self-motivated, and ambitious and goal-oriented young man with big dreams has a clear purpose in life. He believes in doing his best and outdoing himself in everything he does. Above all a God-fearing man who values morals and appreciates different cultures, beliefs and religion.

The Kenyan based cinematographer  is well experienced in aerial drone operations, corporate events, documentaries, weddings, and Livestream services.  Above all he is an environmental enthusiast and humanitarian volunteering with different NGO’s and CBOs within Kenya. His vision is to be a leading enterprise in the field of film and cinematography offering quality and professional services at affordable prices.

His advice, :

1.  Good things take time and

2. Never rush to invest in something before doing some due diligence and

3. Don’t look for shortcuts in business, be true to clients and they will always bring other good clients.

4.     Patience is Key

Having an exchange session with women

At the heart of every society is entrepreneurship. Even for countries that have not believed themselves to be enterprising, societies will be forced to think of new ways of being, so as to industrialize, develop and grow. If that is the case, why the do many of us, never start enterprises, even when we have really good ideas. It is perhaps the fear, that we are not able to grow industries or companies. We never see how, we, or someone like us can be part of something greater than the limits society and ourselves have set for ourselves. I tell you today, you, in this room, are as capable as anyone else, as great as everyone else, and you too can be the greatest supplier. You too can be the greatest service provider. When I started my first real business at the age of 26, I imagine, that I could ever come up with what was termed as one of the greatest ideas of our time. I only saw a problem, and I though to find a solution. In my simple mind, I though events would be the solution to the ...
